Meet The Doctors

Wallace Wolf Jr., DVM
(Retired, Founder of The Dalles Vet)
Retired after forty years of veterinary practice, Dr. Wolf received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Kansas State University. After serving in the United States Army from August 1966 to August 1968, he came to The Dalles Veterinary Hospital in October 1968. Throughout those years, he provided veterinary care for the large and small animals of many, many families of The Dalles, and volunteered his time to multiple civic organizations and activities. His son, John, and his daughter, Mindy, grew up in The Dalles, and they are raising their children in the area as well, allowing Dr. Wolf and his wife, Vicki, to spend time with their grandchildren, Gillian, Emma, Mia, and Mead. Dr. Wolf continues to take care of his own pets, and he enjoys spending time hunting, fishing, boating, horseback riding, and traveling. When we see Dr. Wolf, he often says that since he's retired, he's busy enough that it feels like there's less time in the day!

Receptionists

Jane White
Receptionist/Veterinary Assistant
Jane grew up in the Pacific Northwest with a variety of beloved childhood pets. Now she resides in The Dalles with
her cat Tobio (Toe-bee-oh) and her gerbil Yuki (you-key). She began her career in animal care doing Positive- Reinforcement Animal Training and Fear Free Pet Sitting for 4 years, then switched to the medical side upon being hired at The Dalles Veterinary Hospital in the fall of 2022 as a receptionist. Now she floats in between the front and back, so you may see her behind the desk greeting clients, or in the exam rooms assisting the veterinarians.
When she isn’t working at the clinic, she is teaching her cat tricks at home or enjoying her passion for watercolors, while painting the beautiful nature found in The Gorge.

Maddie Dollarhide
Veterinary Assistant
Maddie was born and raised into a pet-loving, livestock raising family, so it doesn't come as a shock that she is no stranger to animals. Growing up in The Dalles you could find her showing sheep or cattle at the Wasco County Fair, or spending time with one of the many four-legged family members at home! Maddie has been with us for over three years helping to take care of your loved ones. Outside of animals, she enjoys playing piano, jackpotting her cattle, or being involved in many programs ranging from school leadership to serving as the Oregon FFA State Secretary! This year she is traveling to Oklahoma for school but returns to us in the summers! We are lucky to have someone so kind and involved in our community.

Barbara Stanberry
Veterinary Assistant
Barbara started working with animals at the age of 15 at a grooming and boarding facility which sparked a lifelong love for working with animals. Her first job in the veterinary field was in 2002 as a receptionist in a small, family run clinic. She quickly moved up and learned all she could about veterinary assisting duties and skills. From there she continued her on the job training and learning over 13 years in Oregon and Washington. She has worked in everything from an after-hours emergency hospital to an 8-doctor clinic and a specialty referral hospital. Barbara worked in the oncology and cardiology departments where she was a part of a brand new hospital opening. Barbara takes a lot of pride in being told by many of her coworkers and veterinarians (even clients!) that she is the calming force for patients in uncertain, confusing and scary situations. Her goal is to get the job done with accuracy by keeping animals calm and reassured of their safety with her calm demeanor, presence and "animal language". In her free time Barbara enjoys gardening, watching movies, bike rides (Harley Davidson bike rides), reading, rafting and a night around a bon fire with friends is never a bad time to her. Barbara is huge sports fan too, particularly The Seahawks, but if any football game is on, she is watching it! Barbara has two sons and also has an orange tabby who is the weirdest cat she has ever met and more human than he should be. However, he is the love of her life! Barbara also has a red and blue heeler farm dog who is the envy of every farmer who sees her in action.
